Wet belt vs Conventional belt: What’s the difference?

Timing systems typically come in two types: dry belts and wet belts (belt in oil systems).

Dry belts operate outside the engine, enclosed in a sealed cover and isolated from engine fluids.

Wet belts run internally and are lubricated by engine oil, offering quiet operation and more compact design, ideal for modern engines.

However, wet belts come with unique risks: poor oil quality, missed oil changes, or degradation over time can cause the belt to break down, shedding particles that block oil strainers and starve the engine of oil, leading to serious damage.

BGA Timing Belt Kits are designed and tested to meet the specific demands of both dry and wet belts systems offering garages OE matching performance and long term reliability, whatever engine type.
