OSRAM recently delivered training and guidance to students at Warrington College, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting the education of future professionals in the automotive aftermarket. Representatives from OSRAM, in collaboration with Mike Smallbone from Aftermarket Business Solutions, conducted two training sessions for the college’s students.
Throughout the day, the students gained knowledge about the aftermarket sector, bulb technology, and the business opportunities associated with upselling and fitting bulbs. Emphasis was placed on the importance of using premium quality products.
Henry Bisson, Marketing Director at OSRAM, who delivered the lectures, expressed his satisfaction with the students’ active engagement and enthusiasm for learning. He highlighted the complexity of modern automotive lighting, including various technologies and future developments. Bisson also pointed out the untapped profit potential in bulb sales for workshops and aimed to educate the students on the benefits of charging for this service, both for their businesses and their customers.
A key message from OSRAM was the significance of fitting high-quality, reputable components. The company warned that using inferior bulbs could lead to dazzling other drivers, premature failure, and potential hazards or damage within the engine bay and headlight unit.
OSRAM emphasised the industry’s need for trained technicians and commended Warrington College for introducing students to the sector. The company views its support of such educational programmes as a responsibility to prevent a decline in skilled professionals within the automotive aftermarket.
