Osram provides automotive lighting training to Swindon students

Automotive lighting manufacturer OSRAM has provided training on automotive lighting to more than 90 students at Swindon College. The sessions were conducted in conjunction with Mike Smallbone from Aftermarket Business Solutions at the North Star Campus at New College Swindon. This training follows a similar event at Warrington College earlier in the year.

The training sessions covered the aftermarket in general, as well as bulb technologies, business opportunities related to upselling and fitting bulbs, and the importance of using premium-quality products.

Terri Clark, Marketing Manager at OSRAM, who delivered the lectures, said: “We were pleased to see so many students actively engaging with our material. We saw a lot of passion and desire to learn at Swindon College and that’s encouraging, as we see a lot of conversation around the skills shortage in our industry and we wanted to assist in any way possible to keep these young people engaged.”

Clark also highlighted the importance of fitting premium components. She added: “We also wanted to stress the importance of fitting premium quality and reputable components, as fitting a poor quality bulb may dazzle other drivers, fail prematurely and in some cases, be hazardous in the engine bay and cause damage to the headlight unit, so want them to learn this information at the start of their career, and hopefully carry it through.”
