Coil springs are essential components of your car’s suspension system. They connect each wheel to the vehicle body, maintain ride height, absorb road surface imperfections, and help stabilise handling while ensuring continuous contact with the road. Over time, they can deteriorate due to corrosion and metal fatigue, especially when subjected to excessive loads and repeated impacts from potholes.
When replacing coil springs, it is advisable, for safety and comfort, to always replace them in axle pairs. Failure to do so can result in uneven ride height, increased tyre wear, less responsive steering, reduced road holding, longer braking distances, and increased fuel consumption. Replacing only one spring on an axle can also reduce the life expectancy of the remaining spring.
