HELLA has released its latest technical update via HELLA Tech World, focusing on the integration of hybrid and electric vehicles into everyday workshop activities. The bulletin emphasises that increasing e-mobility presents new safety requirements and competence opportunities for technicians.
Technical Service Tips
The update identifies several specific vehicle faults and recommended remedies:
- Fiat Ducato F96: TPMS warning lamps (codes C1010–C1015) may require a software update via Hella Gutmann macsRemote Services or pass-through diagnostics.
- VW Passat: Whistling noises during acceleration may indicate defective gaskets on the exhaust manifold, particularly at cylinders one and four.
- Audi Q5: Onboard diagnostics (OBD) may fail to store or identify faults reliably due to a software error.
- BMW Z4 E89: Retractable hard tops may fail during operation, often linked to micro switch errors in the hard top area.
Range Extensions and Diagnostic Tools
HELLA has expanded its thermal management portfolio, adding 11 product lines and approximately 1,500 references. This brings the total range to roughly 2,400 articles covering key air conditioning and engine cooling components.
The company also highlighted the efficiency of the Hella Gutmann “Auto VIN” feature. Rather than manual data entry, these systems use OBD and number plate lookup to identify exact vehicle variants instantly. HELLA noted:
“A mis-selection leads to wasted time, wrong test paths, or even incorrect repairs. Today’s advanced diagnostics can automatically read the VIN via OBD and identify the exact vehicle variant instantly.”
Technicians can access a comprehensive library of repair videos and technical data through the official HELLA video portal.
