GS Yuasa has officially launched its new Yuasa SWL+ series of Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries. This series builds on the established SWL range, aiming to set a new standard for high-rate discharge and standby power applications.
The SWL+ series is designed for demanding Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and energy storage environments. It addresses the growing market need for longer-lasting, higher-performance energy solutions in critical operations such as data centres, manufacturing facilities, and large infrastructure projects.
For over 40 years, Yuasa batteries have been used in Europe’s standby power market, powering various critical systems. GS Yuasa states that this legacy of quality and innovation continues with the SWL+ series.
A core feature of the SWL+ series is its Hybrid Pure Lead technology, which combines primary pure lead with specialised recycled alloy. This approach aims to increase corrosion resistance and extend battery life. The alloy composition is also intended to enable higher energy density for high-rate discharge scenarios. Additionally, the SWL+ series incorporates GS Yuasa’s HT Element X Alloy™, designed to reduce positive grid corrosion and water loss in high-temperature conditions. These innovations aim to provide robust performance and improved longevity. The series also offers an extended 15-year design life, which may reduce replacement frequency and long-term investment costs.
Andrew Taylor, CEO and Managing Director, GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd., stated, “The SWL+ series offers extended service life, improved high-rate discharge performance, and advanced technologies—all while maintaining seamless drop-in compatibility with existing SWL systems. It is a direct reflection of our commitment to continuous innovation and our customers’ evolving power needs.”
